THE Terengganu government has launched an investigation into allegations that a Chinese Valentine's Day party was held in the state featuring women in bikinis.

The "Aloha Party" on the resort island of Pulau Lang Tengah in Besut also featured female disc jockeys and a dance group, Utusan Malaysia reported.

State Tourism, Culture, Environment and Climate Change Committee chairman Razali Idris said the authorities were investigating to find out if the organisers had flouted laws and guidelines and whether they had a permit for the party.

Razali, who is also Bersatu information chief, said action would be taken against organisers if they had broken the law.

He said the resort owner would be summoned tomorrow to appear before state religious department officials and the Kuala Terengganu mayor.

The event was held to celebrate "520”, the Chinese Valentine’s Day, which falls on May 20. –  May 22, 2024..
