FORMER national unity and community development minister Tan Sri Siti Zaharah Sulaiman died yesterday at 11.23pm.

She was 75.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Shahaniza Samsuddin announced the news on Facebook.

Siti Zaharah was the national unity and community development minister from December 1999 to March 2004. Before that, she was a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department from 1996 to 1999.

In the 1996 Umno elections, she defeated incumbent Rafidah Aziz to become Wanita Umno chief but lost the post to Rafidah four years later.

Siti Zaharah was the Mentakab MP from 1986 to 1995. She held the Paya Besar seat from 1995 to 2008. – July 27, 2024
