Johor assembly’s Mahkota rep Sharifah Azizah dies

UMNO’S Mahkota assemblyman Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain has died.

She was 63.

Johor state assembly speaker Puad Zarkashi confirmed her death in a Facebook post.

The Mahkota assemblyman had been in critical condition and was receiving treatment for internal bleeding. She was warded three days ago.

Johor Umno information chief Datuk Md Jais Sarday, expressed his condolences to her family.

He said he had known Sharifah Azizah for 40 years.

“Her father is the late Datuk Syed Zain Al Shahab, a former Johor speaker,” he was quoted as saying by The Star.

He said she had been the division's Wanita Umno chief since 1993.

Sharifah Azizah won the Mahkota state seat during the Johor elections in 2022.

Before that, she was the Penawar assemblyman from 2018 to 2022. – August 2, 2024.
