THE main suspect in the murder of teacher Istiqomah Ahmad Rozi, 33, will be charged at the Alor Gajah magistrates’ court this morning.

Alor Gajah district police chief Ashari Abu Samah has confirmed that the charge instruction was issued by the state prosecution director last Thursday after reviewing the investigation papers, reported Berita Harian.

“The state prosecutor has completed the review of the investigation papers, and further instructions are to charge the 37-year-old suspect at the Alor Gajah magistrates’ court this Monday,” he said.

He added that the DNA test results identified head and finger samples as of Istiqomah.

He also said Istiqomah’s family can claim her remains from the Forensic Department of Malacca Hospital at 11am today for burial.

Her kin had previously appealed for the expedited release of the body.

The late Istiqomah’s husband, Mohd Yusof Mokhtar, 35, was reported to have said the body would be taken back to Pasir Mas, Kelantan for burial.

On January 6, a headless female body, with both hands and feet missing, was found in a trash bin by the Alor Gajah-Tampin road near Kampung Rimau, Pulau Sebang, Malacca.

After about eight months, on August 12, Ashari confirmed that the body was identified as Istiqomah Ahmad Rozi, 33, a teacher reported missing on December 27, 2023. – August 19, 2024
