TAN Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is being investigated after he is alleged to have touched on issues related to race, religion and royalty (3R) during the Nenggiri by-election campaign, is expected to be charged tomorrow, reported Berita Harian.

The Perikatan Nasional chairman is expected to be charged at the Gua Musang court.

Kelantan Bersatu chairman Datuk Kamaruddin Md Noor confirmed this to BH when contacted.

“Yes, Tan Sri Muhyiddin will be charged tomorrow at the Gua Musang court over his speech during the Nenggiri by-election campaign,” he said.

The former prime minister had earlier denied insulting the previous Agong in a speech he made when campaigning in the Nenggiri by-election.

Muhyiddin had allegedly said in his speech that he was supposed to be the 10th prime minister but “for some reason” was not called by then Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah to be sworn in as prime minister after the last general election.

In a statement, Muhyiddin had insisted that his speech was factual.

Muhyiddin’s remarks led to 29 police reports being lodged against him alleging that he had questioned the previous king’s authority.

The Pahang crown prince had urged police to act decisively against Muhyiddin, claiming the former prime minister had disparaged Al-Sultan Abdullah. – August 26, 2024
