FOLLOWERS of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) are believed to be still in the country, as it is difficult for them to flee to neighbouring countries such as Thailand, as they are dependent on the organisation's top leadership, especially for financial support.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings followers cannot escape to the Malaysia-Thailand border, especially in Kelantan, because all their funds, allowances and finances depend on the GIBSH leaders who were recently arrested and their accounts frozen.

"The top leadership of GISBH has been arrested, so those followers of GISBH cannot run (to the national border). GISBH followers are still here and they are hiding because there is no money, salary or other financial means to escape," he told Bernama in an exclusive interview.

Razarudin said they couldn't flee to Thailand because GISBH followers had nowhere to go once they were there.

"If they escape even to Thailand, where do they want to go? The five top GISBH leaders were arrested earlier by the police, so I don't see their followers being able to flee anywhere, especially Thailand,".

He said that for now the results of intelligence and police investigations did not show GISBH followers fleeing to the national border.

On allegations that premises such as laundries, motels, pharmacies and restaurants associated with GISBH in several states have changed the signboards on their premises after the police raids, Razarudin said that this did happen.

"Yes, there are many places and GISBH premises that have changed their signboards. We have identified them and are investigating," he added.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Animal Association (MAA) president Arie Dwi Andika said authorities have rescued various animals from GISBH-owned premises in Bandar Country Homes in Rawang, Selangor.

In a statement on Facebook, he said the police and MAA rescued 26 animals, including horses and ponies, as well as peacocks and rabbits, on Saturday evening.

“The rabbits, peacocks and horses were neglected since the establishment was vacated. The rabbits and peacocks are now under the care of an animal shelter while the horses and ponies have been handed to Bukit Aman’s Equestrian Police Unit,” he said.  - September 25, 2024
