PUBLIC safety will be among the priorities of the Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) in its fiscal Budget for next year and has allocated RM2.3 million to install and maintain more CCTVs in its jurisdiction.

“The city council has also allocated RM2 million for the maintenance of all street lights under MBSP and another RM15.6 million for streetlights bills under MBSP," said its Lord Mayor and MBSP president Datuk Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid.

Baderul revealed that the priority under the Budget is for 10 core areas to enhance sustainability and liveability, of which safety and security rank as priority.

“Under the 2025 Budget, MBSP emphasizes improving MBSP services, through priority-based budgeting.

“A town hall session on the 2025 Budget was held with MBSP councillors on May 13 this year, while a survey was also conducted online on the MBSP website from March 1 to March 31, 2024.

“A  total of 2,798 people took part in the survey, of whom 2,000 (71.5%) are male respondents and 798 (28.5%) female."

Baderul said the highest allocation of RM150.56 million was to maintain green development and a clean environment.

The other priorities are creating a resilient and livable city and creating a safe and conducive environment.

According to Baderul, MBSP has allocated RM1.4 million for the maintenance of public markets and food complexes, electricity bills (RM2.7mil), water bills (RM2.19mil) and Indah Water Konsortium bills (RM390,000).

“We will also allocate RM2.25 million to upgrade several public recreational areas, including Vision Park in Kepala Batas, Taman Penaga Permai and Taman Pantai in Butterworth, Taman Rekreasi Ampang Jajar and Taman Perpaduan in central Seberang Perai district and also Taman Widuri and Taman Tambun Jaya in south Seberang Perai district,” he added. - October 5, 2024
