PRO-MADANI netizens quickly came to the defence of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after opposition-slant keyboard warriors took him to task for shaking hands with a woman.
During the Prime Minister's recent visit to Lima, Peru, there were at least two instances when Anwar had to shake hands with Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra.
Following this, some pro-opposition keyboard warriors decided to make an issue of it.
“If the PM adheres to the teachings of Islam, this kind of situation will not happen.
“The woman didn’t greet Anwar with a handshake maybe because she respects Anwar who is a Muslim.
"But if Anwar himself extends his hand, that person has to respond.
"Walanon (a slang for staunch Madani government supporters) accuses others of riding on their religion but their leader behaves in such a manner," read a posting by MY (@saythenameayy) on the X platform.

In an almost immediate response, pro-Madani netizens lambasted the posting and pointed out that in the past, other prime ministers had also shaken hands with female dignitaries.
"Look at the essence of the meeting and not the mere handshake," said one netizen.

“What a pity ... their ‘modal’ has dried up," read another comment.
