A 53-YEAR-OLD man was charged in the Kuala Lumpur magistrate's court with the murder of his mother and storing her body in a freezer three years ago.
No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
N. Deanesh, who is a church pastor, was accused of murdering his 77-year-old mother, Catherine Daniel, at a house in Taman OUG between March 21 and March 26, 2021.
He appeared to have mobility issues. He walked slowly into the building and took a short break on a staircase before being led into the court lock-up area.
Deanesh said he understood the charge when it was read to him before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim.
"Faham (I understand)," he said.
The court fixed Feb 7, 2025, for mention.
The charge is framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or up to 40 years in prison and no less than 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction. - November 26, 2024
