Bung hits back at Jeffrey over ‘traitor’ label

SABAH Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has lashed out at Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan, accusing him of hypocrisy and being the "biggest traitor in Sabah" over the latter’s remarks against peninsula-based parties over the weekend.

"Jeffrey is accusing others of being traitors, but history will not forget that he was once with BN and has since hopped between political parties' countless times," Bung said in a statement in Kota Kinabalu.

Bung added that the Sabah Star president and one of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) deputy chairmen even "betrayed his own blood" by contesting against his brother in the 14th General Election, calling it an act of "power-hungry greed."

He was responding to Jeffrey’s recent speech at the GRS Youth launch, where the Sabah STAR president criticised BN's decision to contest in Sabah, alleging the party was no longer relevant.

"It is BN’s right to contest and bring the people’s aspirations forward. Jeffrey’s remarks are nothing more than cheap rhetoric to save his sinking GRS."

Bung also aimed at the corruption allegations surrounding GRS leaders, calling it a "syndicate to steal and deceive the people of Sabah."

"Is Kitingan aware that the GRS leaders are in power? They are the ones talking about distributing profits and those trapped in the (corruption) video are GRS leaders themselves, and not Umno.

“This is the real betrayal that is destroying Sabah’s future," he said.

Yesterday, Sabah PKR secretary Sazalye Donol also lambasted Jeffrey for branding the peninsula-based parties as colonisers and the local leaders as traitors. – December 10, 2024
