FORMER Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman has been appointed the state’s 11th governor.

His Majesty the King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim graciously presented the Instrument of Appointment to Tan Sri Musa Aman as the 11th Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah today.

The former Sabah chief minister was also conferred the prestigious Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara award, which carries the title of “Tun”.

He succeeds Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, whose term will conclude at the end of the month.

The 73-year-old seasoned politician has been a dominant figure in the state’s political landscape.  Musa served as chief minister for 15 years making him the longest-serving CM in Sabah.

He was known for focusing on economic development and infrastructure which made him a key figure in Sabah’s progress.

Speculation about Musa’s governorship had been rife for years, with whispers suggesting this was part of a political arrangement struck after the 2020 Sabah election. – December 17, 2024
