THOUSANDS of supporters gathered at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport Terminal 2 today to welcome Sabah’s newly appointed Governor, Tun Musa Aman.

Musa arrived at noon and was greeted by the large crowd, some seen carrying banners welcoming him.

The crowd gathered hours before his arrival to express their support for the former Sabah chief minister, causing a huge traffic jam along the old airport road located in the popular tourist spot Tanjung Aru.

Tun Musa, 73, received his instrument of appointment from the King yesterday at Istana Negara.

He will officially become the state governor on Jan 1, 2025, replacing Tun Juhar Mahiruddin whose term will conclude on Dec 31.

Supporters from all walks of life, including community leaders and representatives of various ethnic groups, said they came to show their respect and hope for progress under Musa’s leadership.

“We believe Tun Musa’s experience as a leader will bring positive changes to the state,” said Peter James, a local business owner from Penampang.

The event marked a significant moment for Musa, who served as Sabah’s chief minister from 2003 to 2018. - December 18, 2024
