DAP iconic leader Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang was labelled the ‘fastest typing politician’ by his long-time party colleague and friend, M.Kulasegaran.
According to the Ipoh Timor MP, Lim was someone who could think fast and immediately put his thoughts on paper.
“There is no doubt … Lim is surely the fastest typing politician I know,” he said in jest at the launching of Lim's biography authored by veteran journalist Kee Thuan Chye.
Kulasegaran, who is fondly known as Kula among his constituents, also recalled that Lim was detained several times by the police during the course of his political career.
“Even during his detention, Lim would request for a type-writer so he could continue issuing statements while in detention,” said the lawyer, who is now a deputy minister in the prime minister's department,
Lim’s book was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a mark of gratitude to Lim for staying loyal and steadfast in their journey to reform the country.
Lim's son Lim Guan Eng, who is the Began MP, recalled that Lim was not just an adept politician, he is also a good father, grandfather and now a great grandfather.
Lim in his speech, thanked those who supported him over the years, especially in Perak where the event was held at the Tandoor Grill in Ipoh.
Lim said that in his retirement from frontline DAP politics in 2018, he has been reading about climate change, technology and geopolitics.
He said that the next three years are crucial for the Anwar-led government to make sustainable changes to gear the country towards coping with a fast-evolving world. - December 22, 2024.
