THE son of a minister accused of threatening his lover to get an abortion had secretly married the woman last year in a neighbouring country, said police.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the couple’s marriage certificate had been verified by the authorities of the country where they had tied the knot last September.

According to reports in Berita Harian, he said the couple, who were in a relationship, wanted to marry but had faced obstacles here.

Razarudin said the marriage had taken place in September and even their friends were unaware of it as they didn’t want to make it public for fear of upsetting their families.

Razarudin previously said that investigations into a criminal intimidation case involving a minister’s son, which had gone viral on social media, had been completed.

In a report which was viral on social media, it was alleged that the minister's son had allegedly threatened a woman, forcing her to get an abortion.

The report also claimed that the man allegedly tried to kick her in the stomach and would not take responsibility for the baby. - January 14, 2025
