PARTI Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) will discuss preparations for the next state elections during its triennial delegates conference in Kuching starting tomorrow.

PBB veteran leader Datuk Peter Minos, who is former deputy PBB information and publicity chief, said the party will discuss the state polls scheduled for middle of next year which could be held earlier.

"PBB president Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg may even give details of the timing for the polls during this PBB assembly.

"The delegates will also discuss issues on current state-national developments, social and economic agendas and the plans for the future of PBB," he said in a statement.

Peter is the chairman of the Samarahan district municipal council.

PBB very top leadership is maintaining status quo as the branches have adopted a no-contest resolution.

The party, which is the backbone of Gabungan Parti Sarawak ruling government, will not see changes in the central leadership post of president, deputy presidents, senior vice presidents and secretary general.

Only the vice president and supreme council member posts will see some contests.

The PBB Northern Sarawak zone adopted the resolution in its current delegates conference held here last month.

The no-contest resolution was adopted also by the PBB Central Sarawak zone and PBB Southern Sarawak zone.

This means that Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg will remains the PBB president, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and Datuk Amar Dougglas Unggah the two deputy presidents, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf and Datuk Seri Stephen Rundi the two senior vice presidents.

PBB said the party will focus on socio economic agendas.

The key resolution is that the party will focus on infrastructure development, education, business developments, rural transformation and other important agendas.

These are to uplift the standard of life of the grassroot PBB members throughout this state.

The other GPS component parties are Sarawak United Peoples Party, Parti Rakyat Sarawak and Progressive Democratic Party. - February 13, 2025
