SABAH Umno and Warisan have denied claims of an electoral pact, dismissing reports as clickbait and misinformation spread by social media channels.

Warisan deputy president Darell Leiking refuted allegations that the party had reached an agreement with BN Sabah or any other party on seat allocations.

“This matter has never been brought to Warisan’s Supreme Council or Political Bureau for discussion,” he said.

Leiking noted that such speculation tends to surface before elections, adding that GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor had previously shown openness to working with BN Sabah.

“With PH Sabah already aligned with GRS, it’s no surprise that Hajiji wants BN Sabah on board — it’s all about keeping GRS in power,” he said.

Meanwhile, Umno Sabah information chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir also denied any discussions or agreements with Warisan, calling the reports baseless.

“Umno Sabah remains focused on strengthening the party and fighting for the interests of the people,” he said.

He urged the public to ignore unverified claims, stating that any official announcements would be made through the proper channels.

The statements come amid a surge of online disinformation spread by cybertroopers from both ruling and opposition groups through Facebook and WhatsApp channels in Sabah.

They had become increasingly active following the Sabah mining corruption scandal and as part of a broader effort to shape public perception ahead of the state election. - February 15, 2025.
