TEN people in a kampung house were rescued from the rubbles when their wooden house collapsed today in the Bako district in southern Sarawak on the first day of Hari Raya today.

They were rescued from the rubbles by villagers from neighbouring houses, said the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.

The incident at Kpg Geoblit in Bako district took place at about 11am.

"Four injured people have been sent to the hospital while the other six were unhurt.

"The villagers were inside the living room when the wooden house collapsed," the department said, adding that neighbours rushed to the site and pulled them out to safety.

The four injured are two youths aged 20 and two teenagers aged 17 and 11.

The cause of the collapse is being probed. – March 31, 2025
