A DRAMATIC rescue operation by the fire and rescue team successfully saved ten individuals, including four children and a baby boy, after their home in Kampung Pokok Macang, near Kuala Nerang, Kedah was caught in a flash flood.

Kuala Nerang Fire and Rescue Station Head Aminuddin Mad Khozali said  the station received an emergency call at 2:24am today regarding the incident.

In response, a team of eight personnel from the Kuala Nerang Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene, arriving shortly thereafter. Upon reaching the location, the team discovered that ten people were trapped in the flash flood after heavy rainfall caused their homes to be inundated.

“The group consisted of six adult women, three children, and one baby boy who were all trapped after floodwaters entered their home,” said Aminuddin.

After conducting an initial assessment of the situation, the Incident Commander instructed all personnel to wear full personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety jackets before beginning the rescue operation, which involved the use of an aluminium boat.

“All ten victims were successfully evacuated to safety, and the operation was concluded at 4:31 AM,” he added. – April 6, 2025
