A POLICE officer from the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) was found dead at his rented apartment in Bandar Mahkota Cheras yesterday, after failing to turn up for duty.

The deceased, a 37-year-old lance corporal, was discovered unresponsive by a colleague who became concerned when he did not report for work. The colleague, a 20-year-old police officer, alerted authorities at 11.59am.

Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, said officers from the Fire and Rescue Department were called to the scene to assist in gaining access to the premises.

“Upon entering the residence, the officer was found unconscious and was later confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel from Kajang Hospital,” he said in a statement today.

The body was subsequently transported to Kajang Hospital, where a post-mortem examination determined that the cause of death was a blocked heart artery.

The case has been classified as a sudden death (SDR), and there are no indications of foul play.

Naazron urged members of the public who may have information relevant to the case to come forward. Anyone able to assist is encouraged to contact Investigating Officer Zharif Shah Ab Rashid at 012-5925390 or to visit Kajang Police Station. – April 16, 2025
