A TWO-month-old baby girl was killed, while her parents injured in an accident on the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) Highway near Batu Gajah, yesterday.

Jasin Police Chief Mohamad Rusli Mat said the baby, Nur Hafirzah Qintina Shahrul Asraf Naim, died after more than two hours treatment at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital (HPSF), Muar.

He said her father, Shahrul Asraf Naim Khasiran, 35, and mother, Nurulnadiah Balqis Abdullah, 22, each suffered injuries to their head.

According to him, the accident occurred at 2.15 pm when the Toyota Vios car with three people was travelling from the Lebuh AMJ traffic lights towards Batu Gajah.

"Upon arrival at the location, a lorry driven by a 33-year-old man entered the right lane from the same direction to make a U-turn when the car crashed into it from behind.

"The collision caused the driver and passenger of the car to be injured, while the baby died during treatment. The lorry driver was not injured," he said, adding that the hospital was informed of the baby's death at 5pm.

He said further investigations were still being carried out in accordance with Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and members of the public with information were asked to contact investigating officer Mohd Izzuwan Jafri at 019-7242479 or the Jasin IPD at 06-5292222. – April 30, 2025
