THE 54th National Teachers’ Day celebration this year goes beyond symbolic recognition, serving instead as a driving force for elevating the quality of Malaysia’s education system, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said on Saturday.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Fadhlina highlighted that meaningful educational reform begins at the most fundamental level – the classroom – where teachers and pupils interact daily to shape real learning experiences.
“When we speak of school reform, there is no place more crucial or impactful than the classroom itself,” Bernama cited here saying. “It is there that the real direction of learning takes form.”
Expressing gratitude to the teaching community, she added: “Thank you to all our teachers for continuing to educate with sincere hearts. May these efforts lay a strong foundation for advancing the nation’s education quality.”
Fadhlina noted that the ceremony was not merely ceremonial but recognised educators who had implemented high-impact innovations in teaching and learning.
“I personally reviewed each nomination. Some awards were included at my request because I felt these teachers truly deserved to be recognised,” she said. “Let these honours inspire others, and may our collective efforts continue to strengthen the teaching profession.”
Among the accolades presented were the Special Education Award, Innovative Teacher Award, Iconic Teacher Award, Distinguished Teacher Award, Special Award for Language Excellence, and the Minister of Education’s Special Award.
Recipients received certificates, commemorative plaques, and cash prizes of RM3,000, RM1,000 or RM500, depending on the category. - May 15, 2025
