PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Vice-President Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has downplayed suggestions that he may be tapped to fill one of the vacant ministerial positions in the federal Cabinet, following the resignations of Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

Speaking in a light-hearted manner, Aminuddin told reporters that his name is not being considered for any federal role.

“I’m not lobbying for any position and I leave it entirely to the Prime Minister to decide,” he said.

“My name isn’t on the list, don’t worry,” he added when met by the press at the opening ceremony of the Negeri Sembilan Games at the State Sports Complex in Paroi on Saturday.

The Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar reiterated that the authority to appoint ministers lies solely with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and that he would respect and support whatever decision is made.

Rafizi and Nik Nazmi had both recently announced their resignations, effective 17 June and 4 July respectively, following their defeats in PKR’s internal party elections. They are currently on leave to exhaust their remaining annual leave entitlements. - June 1, 2025
