TWO people were killed and twelve others sustained injuries following a three-vehicle collision late Sunday night along Jalan Machang–Pasir Puteh in Kampung Banggol Judah, Machang.

The victims have been identified as Zulkifli Salleh, 54, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Mohammad Zakquan Abdullah, 12, who succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at hospital.

Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Suhaimi Razali, Operations Commander from the Machang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), said both victims had been travelling in a Proton Waja along with four other female passengers.

“The collision involved three vehicles—a Chevrolet pickup truck, a Perodua Kancil, and the Proton Waja—which are believed to have come from opposing directions.

“The deceased male victim was believed to be trapped, and we carried out a ‘size-up’ operation to extricate him,” he said when contacted on Monday.

According to him, five individuals from the pickup truck, including two women and three men, were also injured in the crash.

In addition, the driver and two passengers from the Perodua Kancil—a man and two children aged four and seven—suffered injuries.

All victims have been handed over to the police for further action and investigation.

Meanwhile, Machang District Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Shafiki Hussin, confirmed that a report concerning the incident had been received. - June 2, 2025
