POLICE have seized 123.2 kilogrammes of methamphetamine and ketamine worth over RM4.6 million from an abandoned SUV near the Taman Pulai Savanna water treatment plant, in what is one of the largest drug hauls in Perak this year.

Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the discovery was made in a Honda HR-V at around 1am on June 6, following a tip-off from a member of the public.

“From an inspection, the police found 80 transparent plastic packets suspected to be methamphetamine weighing 82.8 kg and 39 transparent packets of ketamine weighing 40.4 kg,” he said at a press conference today at the Perak Police Contingent Headquarters.

No driver or passenger was found at the scene, and preliminary checks revealed the SUV to be a cloned vehicle, based on its engine number.

“The discovery of these two types of drugs is also among the biggest seizures made by the Perak police this year,” Noor Hisam added.

He said the drugs were believed to have been intended for local distribution, with an estimated street usage impact on more than 350,000 drug users.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction. - June 11, 2025
