A FORMER model was charged in the Sessions Court here today with uploading a falsified marriage certificate claiming she was married to a member of the Johor royal family.
Persana Avril Sollunda, 43, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Judge Norma Ismail.
According to the charge, the accused – who works as a masseuse – is alleged to have created and distributed a fake image via a video on the TikTok account ‘king.charles.ratu’, depicting a marriage certificate between a royal family member and an individual referred to as Crown Princess Ratu Shana.
Harian Metro reorted that the alleged offence, intended to “hurt the feelings of others”, was read at the Cyber Crime and Multimedia Investigation Division of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department at Bukit Aman, Menara KPJ, at 10am on 26 February.
She is charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 \[Act 588], which carries a maximum fine of RM500,000, imprisonment for up to two years, or both, upon conviction. An additional fine of RM5,000 per day may also be imposed for each day the offence continues after conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nursyuhada Husna Sulaiman proposed bail at RM20,000 with one surety. However, the accused, who was unrepresented, did not submit any appeal.
Judge Norma set bail at RM10,000 with one surety and imposed an additional condition requiring the accused to report to the police once a month until the conclusion of the case.
The court fixed 17 July for the next mention of the case.
Previously, on 22 May, the same court had issued a warrant for Persana Avril's arrest after she failed to appear to face the charge.
The warrant had been requested by the prosecution. In March, she was detained for questioning by officers from the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department but was later released. - June 19, 2025
