THE residents of Kampung Bering Baru, an Orang Asli village in Gua Musang, are now benefiting from enhanced communication services following proactive initiatives by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Among the measures implemented is the provision of collective Internet access through free WiFi. Under this scheme, villagers can connect via Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) and each registered resident is entitled to 5GB of free data monthly. Additional data can also be obtained through designated agents.
“Kampung Orang Asli (KOA) Bering Baru is one of 18 KOA locations in the Gua Musang district to benefit from BWA access under the JENDELA plan,” the Commission confirmed.
Looking ahead, the MCMC has identified a location near Kampung Bering Baru for the construction of a new telecommunications tower. This development has been included in the upcoming phase of infrastructure expansion under the national JENDELA initiative.
“The MCMC will continue to monitor and ensure that communication coverage in this area remains optimal for the comfort of the residents,” the Commission added. - June 26, 2025
