A BUSINESSMAN has suffered losses amounting to RM932,300 after falling victim to a syndicate offering a non-existent supply tender.

Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said that on 28 May, the 52-year-old victim received a WhatsApp message from a male suspect claiming to be a representative of a college located in the Kemaman district.

“The suspect offered the victim a closed tender to supply and deliver portable power generators,” he said in a statement issued today.

Azli said the victim subsequently transferred a total of RM932,300—using both his company’s funds and personal savings—into two separate bank accounts as a deposit payment.

“However, after verifying with the college, the victim discovered that no such tender had been issued, contrary to the suspect’s claims,” he added.

The victim lodged a police report at 11.53 pm last night. The case is currently being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. - June 28, 2025
