POLICE have dismantled two illegal laboratories used to manufacture vape liquids laced with narcotics, seizing various types of drugs worth RM21.85 million during separate raids at condominiums in the Ampang area on 25 June.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the first raid resulted in the arrest of two foreign men, a foreign woman, and a local man, along with the seizure of drugs and equipment used to process the illicit vape liquids.

“A search of the premises uncovered seven vape cartridges suspected to contain cocaine with an estimated weight of 0.057 kilograms (kg), as well as powdered cocaine and MDMA-laced liquid weighing approximately 2.7 kg and 124.6 kg respectively,” he said at a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters today.

A second raid on the same day at another condominium led to the discovery of 0.041 kg of dried cannabis, 0.14 kg of MDMA-infused vape cartridges, and 0.056 kg of cocaine powder. A 28-year-old foreign man was arrested at the scene, and subsequent urine tests returned positive for morphine.

Hussein said preliminary investigations revealed that one of the foreign suspects acted as the chemist, while others served as couriers and assistants. The group is believed to have been active since October 2024.

Checks on the suspects’ backgrounds showed that two of the foreign men arrested in the first raid had prior criminal records, including document forgery, criminal intimidation, fraud, drug offences, disturbing public order, and causing injury.

“The syndicate's modus operandi involved renting two condominium units at RM6,000 per unit monthly and using them as drug-processing labs for vape liquids, which were then marketed locally and abroad.

“The syndicate is estimated to have earned RM200,000 in monthly profits from its drug distribution activities,” he added.

Police also seized several items during the raids, including a car, foreign and local currency, laptops, jewellery, and branded watches, with the total value of seizures and confiscations amounting to RM21.9 million.

All suspects have been remanded for seven days until tomorrow to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act. - July 1, 2025
