PAKATAN Harapan (PH) leaders met in Kota Kinabalu yesterday to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming Sabah state election, with discussions centred on seat allocations, election machinery, and the coalition’s manifesto.
PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who chaired the meeting, said all component parties had agreed to set a clear timeline for finalising seat distribution.
“The meeting also agreed that we will focus on the formation of a strong and stable election machinery. It must happen now, for (waiting until) the State Legislative Assembly is dissolved, will be too late,” he told reporters today after launching the Ministry of Home Affairs’ MADANI Adopted Village Programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Pangkalan Abai in Kota Belud.
Bernama reported that Saifuddin added detailed discussions on the PH state manifesto took place and that he was satisfied with the progress made.
He assured that he would continue to travel to Sabah to oversee the implementation of all decisions taken during the meeting.
Among those in attendance were Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) communications director Khalid Abdul Samad, PH Sabah chairman and UPKO president Datuk Ewon Benedick, Sabah PKR chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, Sabah DAP chairman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, and Sabah Amanah chairman Datuk Lahirul Latigu.
The current Sabah State Legislative Assembly is due to be automatically dissolved on 11 November, paving the way for the 17th state election. - July 4, 2025
