A 41-YEAR-OLD female teacher was found dead with severe stab wounds, believed to have been murdered by her elder brother suffering from mental illness, at their family home in Kampung Tenghilan, Tuaran yesterday.

District Police Chief Superintendent Noraidin Ag Maidin confirmed the arrest of the 47-year-old suspect on the same day of the incident.

“The victim was found lying in a pool of blood at the back of the family house with injuries to her neck, head, and both eyes inflicted with a sharp weapon,” he said when contacted today.

Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect has a history of mental health issues and had previously received treatment at a medical facility.

The motive remains under investigation, and a post-mortem was conducted today at the Queen Elizabeth I Hospital Forensic Unit in Kota Kinabalu.

“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” Noraidin said, urging the public not to speculate or circulate unverified information that could hinder the investigation.
