DEPUTY Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has urged participants of the MADANI Mind Transformation Workshop in Petra Jaya to become pioneers of change within their communities by embracing and practising the values of Malaysia MADANI in daily life.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day workshop, Fadillah described Sarawak as a prime example of a united, progressive, and competitive society that embodies the spirit of Malaysia MADANI.

“As we know, Malaysia MADANI, introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is a holistic and integrated effort to make public policy and implementation in Malaysia more humane, continuously improved through consultation and public feedback,” he said.

“In the Malaysia MADANI framework, implementation is grounded in strong unity and places emphasis on justice, which must be felt by every racial or ethnic group in the country.”

His remarks were delivered by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and Federal-State Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.

Fadillah, who also serves as Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, stressed that collective action is even more crucial in Sarawak due to its rich cultural and ethnic diversity.

“Every ethnic group—whether Malay, Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Chinese, Indian and others—must join forces as 'Team Sarawak' to realise this MADANI aspiration,” he said.

He added that mind transformation should not be seen merely as a government programme but as a social movement to be embraced and practised daily.

“Start with small steps at home—educate your children, build positive relationships with neighbours, and contribute meaningfully to your local communities.”

The three-day workshop, held from Friday, involved 54 participants from the state constituencies of Tupong, Samariang and Satok. Participants were exposed to a range of modules including an introduction to the Malaysia MADANI concept, communication and public speaking training, official protocol guidance, and a detailed briefing on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) with particular relevance to Sarawak. - July 20, 2025
