FORMER prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak may be spending his 72nd birthday in prison, but his family, in particular his daughter has not forgotten his special day.

Taking to social media, Nooryana Najwa Najib penned a touching message for her father, who is celebrating his birthday behind bars for the third year.

Starting with a quote from former South African president Nelson Mandela, she wrote, "A brave man is not one who is afraid but one who conquers his fears".

She went on to say:

"A peaceful heart behind silence.

A ray of hope lights the path in disaster.

There is always a lesson behind the test.

More wise, patient and kind than ever.

Happy birthday Daddy. May Allah SWT grant strength and good health to Daddy.

It's been three years since I could not celebrate with Daddy, parting from us.

God willing we can be together again in the near future,".

She said that today, many miss the DSN era.

"Though he has been behind walls for almost three years, separated from the people and of course his family. I am still amazed ... his face always looks cheerful, fighting to continue demanding justice for himself,

"Dozens of accusations thrown at him, but it never reduces our respect, affection and love for the leader who has contributed a lot to UMNO, Barisan Nasional and Malaysia," she added. - July 23, 2025
