According to him, they received confirmation that there was a police report against Chegubard regarding the rally last Saturday.

In fact, he said, Chegubard was scheduled to meet with the investigating officer tomorrow at 11 am in Bukit Aman.

“An arrest in this case is not necessary because Chegubard had already said he would come to Bukit Aman,” he said.

In this regard, Muhammad Rafique condemned the arrest of the Bersatu Port Dickson division chief.

“The actions of the authorities  are very regrettable, especially when there were no untoward incidents during the rally," he said.

Earlier, he said, the police confirmed opening an investigation paper against Chegubard on allegations of four offences under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act (insulting behaviour), Section 504 of the Penal Code (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace), Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA), and Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act. – July 28, 2025
