ISSUES of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) subsidy leakages and the degazettement of forest reserves are expected to take centre stage in today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting today , alongside a slate of environmental, infrastructural, and healthcare-related concerns.

Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (BN–Pekan) is scheduled to press the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living on the number of LPG subsidy misappropriation cases reported to date. He will also seek clarification on the ministry’s plans to ensure subsidised gas cylinders are used appropriately by small traders, amid concerns that misuse may impact consumer goods pricing.

Chong Zhemin (PH–Kampar) will raise environmental concerns by requesting details from the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability on the total land area of forest reserves in Perak that have been degazetted since 2018.

Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (PN–Gua Musang) is set to bring attention to road safety, asking the Ministry of Works to outline long-term measures to mitigate landslides and sinkholes along the Gua Musang–Cameron Highlands route. He is also expected to raise the prospect of realigning sections of the route that run through high-risk zones.

Rodiyah Sapiee (GPS–Batang Sadong) will seek an update from the Health Minister regarding the implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and the Comprehensive Care Management System (CCMS) in public healthcare facilities. She is expected to question whether these initiatives have resulted in improved efficiency in service delivery.

Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN–Paya Besar) is slated to ask the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry how Malaysia is leveraging its mineral resource deposits as strategic assets in diplomatic engagements to cushion the effects of geopolitical instability on global trade.

Datuk Verdon Bahanda (GRS–Kudat) will inquire about the status of the Pan-Borneo Highway project linking Kota Kinabalu and Kudat, including its projected completion timeline.

Following the oral question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat will resume debates on the National Registration (Amendment) Bill 2025, and move to the second readings of the Government Procurement Bill 2025, Urban Renewal Bill 2025, and Gig Workers Bill 2025.

The current 24-day Dewan Rakyat sitting, which began on 21 July, is scheduled to conclude this Thursday. - August 27, 2025
