PARTI Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) was responsible for the cancellation of Perikatan Nasional's (PN) registration after lodging a complaint against the coalition, its secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan alleged.

He accused Bersatu of betraying its coalition partners by complaining to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) over claims that PN had breached its constitution by failing to invite the party to a supreme council meeting on July 16.

“I stress that Bersatu caused PN to be deregistered. The party is always stabbing its own allies in the back,” he said.

Takiyuddin was speaking at the Kubang Kerian parliamentary constituency's Jelajah Himpunan dan Munajat Penyatuan Ummah event in Pasir Tumboh on Tuesday.

He said Bersatu had previously sought to contest as many seats as possible under the PN logo in the Johor state election, a request he claimed had been granted, but the party lost all the seats it contested.

Ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election, discussions on seat allocations, including those for Bersatu, were supposed to take place after Barisan Nasional (BN) offered PN 11 seats, he said.

However, Takiyuddin alleged that Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced a day before the scheduled meeting that his party would contest 24 seats under its own logo rather than PN's.

“How could we still invite them to the meeting when he had already announced that they would contest without using the PN logo?” he said.

Takiyuddin said Bersatu leaders subsequently lodged a complaint with the RoS, alleging that PN had violated its constitution by denying the party the right to attend the supreme council meeting.

He said PN received a notice of the deregistration order from the RoS at about 8am on Tuesday.

According to Takiyuddin, the letter stated that the cancellation was based on an alleged breach of Clause 7.1 of PN's constitution, which concerns Bersatu's right to attend and participate in the July 16 supreme council meeting.

He defended PN's decision not to invite Bersatu, claiming the party was facing internal problems at the time.

Bersatu had previously blamed PN's PAS-led leadership for the coalition's deregistration, arguing that its exclusion from the meeting had denied it its rights as a coalition member.

Takiyuddin said Bersatu was entitled to make such statements but questioned why it had taken the matter to the RoS.

He maintained that the practice of requiring a party to resolve its problems before being invited to meetings had also been applied to other coalition members.

“If PAS had a problem, PN could also issue an ultimatum for PAS to resolve it before being invited. That is how it works. The same applies to Parti Warisan, MIPP and now Bersatu,” he said. - October 21, 2026
