PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed allegations that a minister received RM9.5 million to resolve issues related to "corporate mafia" activities, describing them as politically motivated statements unsupported by evidence.

The Prime Minister stated that the minister in question has already responded to the allegation and challenged it through the courts.

"Regarding the claim about a minister and RM9.5 million—that is a political statement not backed by any evidence. The minister concerned has challenged it, provided a response, and brought the matter to court," he said during the Ministers' Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat.

He was responding to a supplementary question from Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) concerning the extent of investigations into individuals alleged to be involved in "corporate mafia" activities, including the allegation involving a minister.

Rosol also questioned whether the alleged RM9.5 million had been seized by the authorities or if it existed in some other form.

Anwar emphasised that all allegations must undergo a process of investigation and prosecution before any conclusions can be drawn, adding that no one should be penalised based solely on allegations.

He asserted that enforcement actions would not exempt any individual based on their political affiliation—including members of his own party.

"Who is siphoning off funds? If it involves someone from my own party, then take action. In fact, as the Honourable Member is aware, there are ongoing prosecutions involving members of the Keadilan party," he said.

Anwar stated that he would not use his authority to obstruct any investigation or prosecution, including those involving his former political secretary.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the handling of past corporate cases—such as the Serba Dinamik case—noting that appropriate action was not taken at the time, despite the significant losses incurred by the company and its shareholders.

“If there is a case, I do not want to cover it up. If there is evidence, reveal it. That is the difference,” he said. – October 20, 2026
