A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in an arson incident that caused a house in Jalan Permai, Taman Sri Permai, to catch fire in the early hours of the morning two days ago.

Kluang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh, said the incident occurred at approximately 3.30am when the complainant reportedly heard what sounded like an object being thrown into the compound.

“Upon inspection, the front yard and a car parked in the garage were found to be on fire,” he said in a statement today.

A piece of paper containing threatening language was also discovered at the scene. Following a report lodged over the incident, a 46-year-old woman was detained by police at 3am yesterday in Bandar Seri Alam, Masai.

Checks revealed the suspect has no prior criminal record, and a urine test returned negative for drug use.

“The suspect has been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday until 12 September to assist in investigations under Sections 435 and 506 of the Penal Code,” he added.

Members of the public with relevant information are urged to come forward by contacting their nearest police station or reaching out to the Kluang District Police Headquarters via 07-7784222, 07-7784256 (direct line), 07-7766822 (hotline), or the DCC Tablet line at 014-3656822. - Sept 7, 2025
