THE Home Ministry will begin trial implementation of the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) from 22 September 2025, with full adoption expected by March 2026, replacing the current QR code-based MyBorderPass system.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry said the trial phase will commence at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) and Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) in Johor.
It will then be progressively expanded to five major international airports: KLIA Terminals 1 and 2, Bayan Lepas Airport in Penang, Kuching International Airport in Sarawak, and Kota Kinabalu International Airport in Sabah.
“During the trial period, which runs until 28 February 2026, both the existing QR code system and the MyBorderPass app will remain operational for immigration clearance,” the Ministry said.
However, all travellers, including foreign visitors, are encouraged to download the new **MyNIISe** mobile application—available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei App Gallery—to facilitate smoother processing at entry and exit points using the upgraded system.
The Ministry described NIISe as a central component of the Madani Government’s digital reform agenda, and noted that its launch has been accelerated from the original date of March 2026.
“This system will enhance efficiency and upgrade automated security screening procedures at the nation's entry points,” the statement said.
The Ministry also reminded all travellers that valid travel documents or passports will continue to be required under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for any cross-border travel.
