A 38-YEAR-OLD woman was killed and two others injured after a tree fell on their tent while they were camping at Pulau Santap in Janda Baik on Friday morning.

The victim, identified as Herini Mohammad Ali, was pronounced dead at the scene. A man and a young boy were also injured in the incident.

According to Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria, the department received a distress call at 7.56am and immediately dispatched a response team to the site.

“Ten personnel from the Bentong Fire and Rescue Station, along with two fire engines and assistance from six members of the Janda Baik Volunteer Fire Brigade, were deployed to the location,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Upon arrival, the operation commander confirmed that a large tree had fallen onto a tent at the campsite. The impact killed one woman and injured two others.

The deceased was retrieved using a stretcher and handed over to the police for further action. The injured were transported to Bentong Hospital by ambulance.

Zulfadli added that firefighters conducted a thorough inspection of the area and cleared the fallen tree using chainsaws to ensure no further danger to other campers. - September 19, 2025
