HIS MAJESTY Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, graciously received Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku today, during which he was briefed on several current national matters.
According to a statement posted on the King’s official Facebook page, Sultan Ibrahim was presented with details on the implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) fuel subsidy initiative and the preparations for the 47th ASEAN Summit scheduled to take place in the Malaysian capital next month.
"His Majesty was also presented with the implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative as well as preparations for the 47th ASEAN Summit scheduled to be held in the capital next month," the post read.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Anwar announced a reduction in the retail price of petrol RON95 to RM1.99 per litre, down from RM2.05 per litre, as part of targeted subsidies under the BUDI95 programme.
The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that BUDI95 was first made available on 27 September to 300,000 military and police personnel, followed by recipients of the Tunai Rahmah Cash Assistance (STR) scheme on 28 September.
From 30 September, the scheme has been extended to 16 million Malaysian citizens aged 16 and above who hold valid MyKad identity cards and active driving licences.
Separately, the 47th ASEAN Summit will be hosted in Kuala Lumpur from 26 to 28 October.
As the chair of ASEAN in 2025, Malaysia will organise the summit under the theme “Inclusion and Sustainability,” bringing together leaders from the ten ASEAN member states alongside dialogue partners from around the world in a major international event. - September 25, 2025
