A SENIOR officer from the Negeri Sembilan Forestry Department has been accused of receiving more than RM649,000 in bribes over a four-year period in exchange for facilitating logging licences in a forest reserve in Pahang.
Nazri Husin, 54, appeared at the Seremban Sessions Court where he was formally charged with 116 counts of corruption under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Prosecutors allege that between 2019 and 2023, Nazri accepted a total of RM649,169.68 from one Ching Fook Loong as a reward for assisting in the approval of timber extraction permits within the Lesong Forest Reserve, located in the Keratong area of Rompin, Pahang.
“The accused is believed to have used his position to influence the issuance of forest plantation licences in favour of a specific contractor,” said Deputy Public Prosecutor Taufik Awaludin.
Defence counsel Nurul Nadia Norrizan of K. Siladass & Partners represented the accused.
Judge Kanageswari Nalliah granted bail of RM50,000 with one surety, ordered Nazri to surrender his passport, and directed him to report monthly to the nearest MACC office pending trial.
The case is scheduled to be mentioned again on 28 November 2025. - October 3, 2025
