TWO women are being sought by police to assist investigations into the theft of a gold bracelet worth about RM16,000 from a gold shop in Batu 8, Kampung Batu Enam, Kuala Terengganu, yesterday.

The theft is believed to have occurred at 10.59 am before being noticed by the salesperson at the gold shop involved, who later lodged a report at the Kuala Terengganu District Police Headquarters.

Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor, said the salesperson only noticed the loss of a gold bracelet weighing 28.01 grams when he was conducting a stock check at 10.25 pm.

"He then checked the closed circuit television (CCTV) footage before finding two female suspects entering the business premises allegedly pretending to be customers.

"One of the suspects asked for several gold bracelets to try on and did not remove a piece of jewellery she was trying," he said today.

Azli said that instead the woman tried to hide the bracelet with the sleeve of her robe.

He said the suspect was then seen deliberately dropping the bracelet on the floor before stepping on it and putting it in her handbag.

"They then left the gold shop on the pretext of wanting to take money to make a payment, but did not return after that," he said. – August 14, 2026
