TWO women were injured—one of whom sustained a broken left arm—in a fire that engulfed two two-story restaurant units on Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, early this morning.

Operations Commander Md Fuad Selamat said an emergency call came in at 3:04 am, and personnel arrived at the scene four minutes later.

"The fire resulted in 100 per cent destruction of the ground floor and 50 per cent destruction of the upper floor," he said in a statement.

Md Fuad added that a 34-year-old woman sustained an injury to her right hand, while another woman, aged 24, suffered a broken left arm.

"Both victims were subsequently taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for further treatment.

"The cause of the fire and the total extent of the losses are still under investigation," he said.

The operation involved 35 personnel from the Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Pantai and Seputeh Fire and Rescue Stations. – November 8, 2026
