NEGERI Sembilan's proposed Nov 26 state assembly sitting is facing uncertainty after all 11 Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblymen said they had yet to receive official notification, with the opposition claiming the required 28-day notice period could no longer be met.

Opposition leader J Arul Kumar said the notification should have been issued by Oct 28 or 29 to comply with the stipulated 28-day requirement.

"We should have received the notice 28 days before the state assembly sitting, meaning it should have been sent to us by Oct 28 or 29.

"Until today, we have not received any notice or information. Even if it is sent within the next day or two, it would mean the state assembly sitting cannot take place on Nov 26 as announced by the state government because the 28-day period would already have been breached," he told Berita Harian when contacted today.

The Nilai assemblyman said assembly members normally received notification well in advance, often about two months before a sitting, to allow sufficient time for preparations.

These include submitting oral and written questions, arranging for state executive councillors (Exco) to respond and obtaining information from relevant government departments and agencies.

"All these processes take time and require more than a month of preparation. That is why the 28-day notice is necessary.

"However, we have yet to receive any notification, and there is also no information recorded on the official e-Dewan portal. Clearly, the state government's proposal to hold the sitting on Nov 26 is unreasonable," he said.

Arul Kumar urged the state government to confirm a date for both the assembly sitting and the tabling of the Negeri Sembilan 2027 Budget.

Last Tuesday, Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim said the state government remained committed to its original plan to convene the assembly on Nov 26, followed by the presentation of the state budget the next day.

The Juasseh assemblyman said the state government was working to obtain the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir to officiate at the sitting.

"God willing... if God permits, God willing (we will obtain the Ruler's consent)," he told reporters after launching the Negeri Sembilan e-Tanah development system. - November 6, 2026
