MALAYSIA'S essential goods supply chains remain stable and are not facing major disruptions despite global geopolitical uncertainties and the approaching monsoon season, the government has assured.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said comprehensive preparations had been undertaken through coordination among various government agencies under the National Economic Action Council (MTEN).

He said Malaysia's circumstances differed from those of countries that had advised their citizens to stockpile essential goods, as such measures were also influenced by extreme weather conditions, including winter and typhoons.

"The government takes global geopolitical developments seriously, including the conflict in West Asia, which has implications for international supplies.

"However, through a multi-agency approach coordinated by MTEN, we have been able to ensure that domestic supply chains remain uninterrupted. This existing model will continue to be used," he said after officiating the launch of Tealive Sparkling Crafted Tea-Prebiotic Soda in Kuala Lumpur today.

Armizan urged consumers not to resort to panic buying, saying the government remained prepared to address potential supply disruptions.

"We do not regard this as an isolated issue. We must always remain prepared, but at the same time, we hope the public will not panic.

"Thankfully, so far, there have been no major issues involving domestic supply disruptions," he said.

He said the same coordination framework would also be used to address potential supply challenges during the forthcoming monsoon season.

Armizan said the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) had institutionalised a Technical Committee on Supply and Price Stabilisation, chaired by the ministry's secretary-general, to continuously monitor supply security.

He said the committee was not merely reactive to emerging problems but also monitored supply security on an ongoing basis, with meetings held every two months.

The ministry would also activate all existing platforms to ensure consumers continued to have access to essential goods without difficulty, he added. - November 5, 2026
