THE Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is investigating a disruption in the BUDI Madani RON95 (BUDI95) fuel subsidy system which affected 28 customers at a BHPetrol station on Jalan Gambang, Kuantan on Thursday.

Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh confirmed that the technical issue occurred around 12.15pm on 3 October, prompting an immediate inspection by ministry officers later that day.

"We found the system was experiencing intermittent disruptions, despite no detected internet issues at the station," she said in a statement today. "The operator has since submitted a report to BHPetrol headquarters for further action."

Affected customers may seek refunds by presenting their original purchase receipts for verification.

Fuziah noted that a similar issue was detected at BHPetrol Bandar Gambang earlier that morning, though it was resolved shortly thereafter.

She added that inspections at other locations, including a Shell station on Jalan Sungai Lembing, showed the BUDI95 system functioning normally. Isolated issues were related primarily to faulty MyKad chips rather than the system itself.

To prevent future inconvenience, the ministry has advised station operators to prepare manual backup systems to record transactions and customer details during outages. Operators are also encouraged to accept supporting documents to facilitate subsidy reimbursement.

“KPDN is committed to continuously monitoring the implementation of BUDI95,” Fuziah said. “We will ensure full compliance by station operators and maintain the highest level of service to the public.”

She urged affected consumers to report any issues via the KPDN hotline at 1-800-886-800 or through the ministry’s official channels. - October 4, 2025
