47th Asean Summit: Several major roads and highways in KL to be closed in stages from Oct 26 to 28

IN conjunction with the 47th Asean Summit, several major roads and highways in Kuala Lumpur will be closed in stages from Oct 26 to 28, said the KL Command and Control Centre (KLC3).

Lasting between 30 and 45 minutes, the closures would be implemented periodically to facilitate the movement of high-level delegation convoys throughout the summit period, it said in a social media posting.

The main roads affected around the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and the city centre include Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Pinang, Jalan Binjai, Persiaran KLCC, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Imbi, Jalan Damansara, Jalan Istana, Jalan Kuching and Jalan Perak.

"Routes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Subang towards the city centre, as well as the Putrajaya Ring Road and KLIA Highway, will also experience temporary closures to accommodate official motorcades," it said.

Strategic intersections expected to be affected are Jalan Ampang–Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Sultan Ismail–Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Perak–Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Perak–Jalan Pinang, Jalan Stonor–Jalan Kia Peng and Jalan Stonor–Persiaran KLCC.

The main expressways involved are the Maju Expressway (MEX), North-South Expressway (PLUS) from Sungai Buloh to Jalan Duta, Elite Expressway (KLIA–Putrajaya), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) from Subang to Jalan Duta, Guthrie Corridor Expressway (Guthrie) and KL–Seremban Expressway (Sungai Besi–City Centre).

Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city centre during peak summit hours.

"The 'Golden Triangle' area surrounding KLCC is expected to experience the most significant traffic disruption. The public is advised to avoid these routes and to use public transportation such as the MRT, LRT, Monorail and buses during the summit," it said.

The 47th Asean Summit is scheduled to take place from Oct 26 to 28 and will bring together all 10 leaders of Asean member states along with dialogue partners.

Among the invited world leaders include United States president Donald Trump. – October 14, 2025
