‘Love letters’ from VIPs will not be entertained, - asserts Mara chairman
Asyraf said MARA is emphasising strict financial discipline in internal management - October 26, 2025

MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki today stressed that they would not entertain any 'love letters' from politicians or any other party asking for special treatment for certain individuals over their loan repayments.

He stressed that all borrowers are considered equal and must be responsible for repaying their respective debts regardless of status or background.

"Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (Deputy Prime Minister) also stressed that MARA is given full trust to ensure that every cent of the people's money is not wasted.

"In this case, we don't see who they are. There is no term for VIPs who pay or VIPs who don't pay. All those who don't pay their debts are considered VIPs," he said as reported by Harian Metro.

Asyraf said MARA is emphasising strict financial discipline in internal management, including ensuring that all borrowers carry out their responsibilities towards repayment.

He said that repayment reports are now presented periodically to the management and council to monitor the performance and effectiveness of the recovery measures implemented.

"Now, Alhamdulillah, we have begun restructuring in terms of operations and emphasising financial discipline. Among the important aspects is ensuring that loan repayments run smoothly.

"So far I am satisfied because the repayment rate is increasing. This also shows that the community's awareness is improving and every cent they repay will be used to help others," he said. – October 26, 2025
