FORMER INTERPOL president Dr Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi has been appointed chairman of Alif Holding, a proposed subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed artificial intelligence company Robo.ai.

The company said Al-Raisi will chair the board of the Abu Dhabi-based unit and oversee matters related to governance, risk management and compliance.

Alif Holding is expected to develop artificial intelligence software and technology for government agencies, public sector organisations and businesses.

Its stated focus includes sectors such as energy, oil and gas, transport, public safety, utilities, ports and other critical infrastructure.

Robo.ai said the subsidiary will operate from the United Arab Emirates and initially target the Gulf region before expanding into overseas markets.

Al-Raisi served as president of INTERPOL between 2021 and 2025 and was the first person from the Middle East to lead the international policing body.

He also chairs Neurovia AI, another Robo.ai subsidiary.

In a statement, Al-Raisi said the wider use of artificial intelligence in essential services makes governance and security increasingly important.

He added that Alif Holding aims to support the UAE’s artificial intelligence ambitions while developing technologies for regional and international markets.

The appointment takes effect immediately. – July 31, 2026
