POLICE arrested a man suspected of cheating victims of RM960,020 by posing as an aide-de-camp to the Raja Muda of Selangor in purported deals involving houses and vehicles.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the suspect, in his 40s, was arrested at a house in Johor Bahru at about 5 pm yesterday.
The man had been on the run since Oct 13 and was not connected to the Selangor royal institution or the staff of the Selangor palace, Shazeli said.
Two acquaintances suspected of helping him hide were also arrested.
Shazeli said the suspect was linked to fraud cases in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Perlis.
“He used the same modus operandi to defraud victims from various backgrounds,” he said.
Selangor police are working with Bukit Aman and other state police contingents to track down other suspects believed to be involved in the cases, some of whom remain at large, he added.
The Selangor palace had earlier voiced concern over allegations that an individual had impersonated the Raja Muda’s personal bodyguard to deceive members of the public for financial gain.
It urged the public to verify claims of royal connections directly with the palace administration before entering into any transactions with individuals claiming to represent or be associated with the royal household. – October 28, 2026
